Thursday, April 13, 2006Chatterbox Challenge 2006: Bot Reviews, A-E
ALICE: Where it all began. Well, not ALL, because there was ELIZA ... but you get the drift.
Asimov: Kind of maddening and yet fascinating. As logical as possible. The Barman: Clever and a little smutty. Colloquial. Very clean interface. CHAT: A simple reflection of you, illustrating the Golden Rule and the law of karma. CreatureBot: Insulted me as soon as I spoke, so I didn't continue. Must be set to pick up the bad habits of its users. Elbot: Clever as ever. One of the best. Makes good puns. Ella: Very elaborate. Now has Project Gutenberg books. Eugene: Intriguing Ukrainian Jew from Odessa, with complicated back story. Adolescent humor. Nice interface, but irritating flash on each page refresh. I didn't review the bots below because I don't have AOL IM access, I can download but not install programs at the library computers, and Personality Forge is too non-G-rated for my taste as a general rule, so I just don't go there. AOL bot: AZiggyBot. Downloadable bots: Ally, Antonin, B4. Personality Forge bots: Aischa, Anji Kapoor, Aries, Bildgesmythe, BobBot, Brother Jerome, Croak, Din, Dogh'd, ds first. Make up your own mind at the Chatterbox Challenge. Labels: chat robot |
