Last night in a jam session with a couple of friends, this song emerged. It is a first draft. It's about ten minutes long. It was recorded on old-tech audiotape, therefore I can't audio-post it, but here are the lyrics, transcribed after the fact:
One night, I was walking down the road One night, I was walking down the road Green Poison ... Green Poison ... And the sky was blue, and the sky was pink And the sky was pearl, and the sky was gray And the sky was green, and the sky was pink And the sky was green, and the sky was gray Green Poison ... Green Poison ... And I spun around in a boat my feelings for you And I spun around in a boat of blue And I spun around in a boat my feelings of blue And I spun around in a boat my feelings for you Green Poison ... Green Poison ... And the sky was pink, and the sky was gray And I couldn't think, and I just couldn't say And the sky was green, and the sky was blue I couldn't speak my feelings for you So I went down under the water Down under the water Down under the water To the water, to the water, to the water And the sky was green, and the sky was blue And I couldn't see my feelings for you Green Poison ... Green Poison ... And I wanted to wear a dress of satin A dress of satin and leaves for you in my hair In my hair the roses would be The roses would be falling in tears and drops The roses would be falling in tears and drops The roses would be falling in tears and drops and pearls And I wanted to wear the dress of satin I wanted to wear the dress of satin and gray and rose With a little velvet With a little velvet around the shoulders As tender as a fawn in a thicket For you But the twigs and the thorns kept me from the green Kept me from the green And I only knew Oh, I only knew and I only knew How to erase from the bottom up to the top of the sky Up to the top of the sky Where the angels live and try And their wings, their wings Their wings, their wings are tipped with silver and gold Their wings are tipped with silver and gold And they never get unhappy or cold They just stroke a blissful guitar They just stroke the strings But I'm here on Earth, but I'm here on Earth But I'm here on Earth and I'm aching to fly But I'm here on Earth, but I'm here on Earth But I'm here on Earth and I'm aching to fly And all I got is -- Green Poison ... Green Poison ... Express, express, express, express Express what I'm wearing Express what I'm wearing in the dress And I said I wanted to fly in the angel dress And I said I wanted to design it because It was pink and gray and purple and pearl When I wore it I felt like A little girl And I said I could ride up there in the sky When I was little I was so small I couldn't see you at all ... All ... all ... Here I go I went up ... the stairs I went upstairs to Heaven (Guitar chimes a major chord) That was God letting me in ... St. Peter 11-16-06 |
